HS TEN: Eagles stay on track for region crown with win over Seahawks

Beaufort High boys tennis cleared the last major hurdle in its quest for a Region 7-4A title Tuesday, beating visiting Hilton Head High 5-1.

The Eagles won four of the five singles matches and claimed the doubles court to finish off the season sweep of the Seahawks and take a huge step toward completing an undefeated romp through the region.

Bodie Daniel won a tough three-set match after dropping the opening set at No. 4 singles, and Graeme Angus, Tucker Martin, and Griffin Stone also added singles wins for the Eagles. Beaufort’s Joseph Combs and Witt Compton teamed up for a straight-sets win at No. 2 doubles.

Brent Geist delivered the only victory for the Seahawks with a three-set victory at No. 3 singles.

The Eagles (8-2, 8-0) host James Island for another region match Wednesday. The Seahawks (9-3, 9-2) play at James Island on Monday.
