Bluffton girls soccer dominated possession and Leyla Dubs scored a hat trick to power the Bobcats to a 4-0 home win over crosstown rival May River on Friday.
The Bobcats controlled possession for more than 85 percent of the match, and Dubs took advantage of the opportunities she and her teammates were able to create. The junior finished off a beautiful assist from Gwenna Townsend to start the scoring, then converted assists from Micaelann Gies and Kayleigh Washington to make it a 3-0 advantage.
Washington delivered another assist to Gies, who put a header in the back of the net for the final goal, and she helped anchor a dominant defensive effort as the Bobcats allowed only one shot on goal, which came from a free kick.
Fiorella Munguia needed only one save to preserve the clean sheet for the Bobcats.
Bluffton (5-3, 4-3) travels to Colleton County for a region match Friday.
