Hilton Head Christian Academy flexed its muscle against its regional foes with an impressive team score of 145 on Wednesday at Fripp Island Resort. Hilton Head Prep was second with a respectable but distant 169. Beaufort Academy (188), Holy Trinity (197) and Cross (203) also competed in the match.
Every golf coach’s dream came true for coach Jason Suddeth and the Eagles, as they carded the four lowest scores of the day.
Max Green led the way with an impressive 1-under 35. The reigning SCJGA Golfer of the Year was followed by teammate Aiden Leblanc (36), while Sean Engler and Hudson Buck carded matching 37s. The impressive showing is proving why the Eagles are the team to beat not just in Region 1, but perhaps in all of SCISA Class 2A.
Hilton Head Prep’s Bridget Wilkie turned in a 40 to lead non-HHCA golfers, followed by Beaufort Academy’s Jack Carter Worrell with a 41. Cross was led by Claire Green’s 43 and Holy Trinity’s lead horse was Barnes Gooding and his 45.
These teams will meet up again on April 21 at Parris Island for an 18-hole tournament.
