Macey Dowe, Casey Laing, and Giovana Rodriguez all went deep, and Ana Carabello dominated in the circle as May River softball rolled to an 8-1 road win over Beaufort High in Region 7-4A play Monday.
Carabello struck out six and limited the Eagles to one unearned run on eight hits and two walks, and had plenty of run support — some of it coming from herself. Carabello was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Laing went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, and two RBIs, and Gabby Ximenez was 2-for-3 with a double to lead May River’s 12-hit attack.
Laing got the scoring started with a two-run bomb to left in the first before Beaufort’s Kylie Rast settled in an pitched three scoreless frames to keep the Eagles in it. Dowe ended the drought with a leadoff blast to center in the fifth, and the Sharks added another run when Laing doubled with two outs and scored on a Ruthie Roman RBI single.
The Eagles plated an unearned run in the fifth on a Carleigh Coolong RBI single, but the Sharks broke it open with four in the sixth, adding to the lead on a Carabello RBI single before Rodriguez capped the scoring with a three-run shot to center.
Rast and Karley Rouse each had two hits for Beaufort.
May River (7-3, 5-0) hosts Beaufort (2-4, 0-3) for the finale of the two-game set Wednesday.
