Bluffton High softball picked up a quality road win Monday, holding off Hanahan for a 4-3 victory in a non-region matchup.
Parker Ray had another strong night in the circle, racking up 10 strikeouts and limiting the Hawks to one earned run, six hits, and three walks.
Ray also went 2-for-4 with a triple and scored twice, while Alyssa Rose was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Olivia Harrison added a triple and a walk, and Sydnee Poliquin came through with an RBI single.
The Hawks scored a run in the top of the first and Kaylee LeCompte held the score there until the fourth, when Bluffton broke through for three runs. Ray led off with a single and Rose followed with a triple to right to even the score. Poliquin brought Rose home with a single up the middle, and Illa Hodges drew a bases-loaded walk to force home another run.
The Bobcats tacked on a valuable insurance run in the fifth, when Ray led off with a triple and scored on a Reagan Kelly grounder two batters later.
Hanahan pushed across a run in the fifth to cut into the margin and plated another in the sixth with a aid of a two-out error. A leadoff walk in the seventh put the tying run aboard for the Hawks, but Ray induced a pair of grounders sandwiched around a strikeout to preserve the win.
The Bobcats (5-2) resume Region 7-4A play Monday at Colleton County.
