HS BSOC: Benches clear after Seahawks rally past Eagles

Hilton Head High boys soccer rallied from a halftime deficit to claim a 3-1 win over visiting Beaufort High on Friday in a game that ended early after both benches emptied.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Seahawks turned the tables and dominated the second half.

Esteban Quintero found the equalizer with a chip from 30 yards out, and Renzo Andreucetti gave HHIHS the lead with a beautiful free kick from 25 yards. Nate Bowen capped the scoring, chipping the Beaufort keeper to finish off an assist from Alan Leyva.

It wasn’t all good for the Seahawks, though, as senior captain Geo Lopez left with an apparent knee injury and things turned ugly late when a Beaufort player took down the Seahawks’ keeper, prompting a scuffle that resulted in the abrupt end of the match.

The Seahawks (5-1, 2-0) travel to May River for a key Region 7-4A match Tuesday.

Beaufort (1-4, 0-3) travels to Lucy Beckham on Tuesday.
