Jack Mastrorocco tossed a stellar six-inning shutout, and Hilton Head High baseball blanked Colleton County 12-0 on the road Wednesday to finish off a two-game sweep and take control of first place in Region 7-4A.
The Seahawks pounced on the Cougars early, scoring a pair of runs in each of the first two innings before putting up a five-spot in the fourth. Mastrorocco continued his dominance on the mound, and HIlton Head tacked on three more runs in the sixth to cap off the 12-0 run-rule victory.
Mastrorocco was on top of his game from start to finish, holding the Cougars off the board and adding four strikeouts while walking just one batter. Jackson Philpot impressed with a 2-for-4 performance and drove in four runs, while Tate Miller and Juju Mlodzinski picked up a pair of hits with Miller adding two RBIs.
Grayson Cromer excelled on the mound and at the plate for Colleton County, leading the Cougars with a 2-for-3 game and throwing a scoreless fifth inning.
Hilton Head High (7-3, 4-0) gets another shot against Oceanside Collegiate on Saturday at home.
Colleton County (3-5, 0-2) travels to face the same Landsharks on Thursday.
