May River girls lacrosse earned its second straight win in dramatic fashion Monday, topping Beaufort High 12-11 on the road in double overtime.
The Sharks took a 6-4 edge into halftime, but Beaufort battled back thanks to several draw controls from Nevaeh Wiggins to turn the tide. The Eagles scored seven goals in the second half to force overtime before May River found the golden goal in the second extra period to pull out the win.
Three players scored a trio of goals each for the Sharks, as Venessa Matusak, Corynn Psychoghios, and Amanda Katon all picked up hat tricks. Lola Spires netted a pair of goals, and Molly Salus added one. Salus, Katon, and Spires all recorded an assist, and Tori Meiss racked up 12 saves in net.
Amyah Todd and Annabelle Hooper excelled for the Eagles, scoring a game-high four goals each while Todd scooped up 12 ground balls. Talia Moultrie played superb defense for Beaufort, and Shelby Holstein made 14 saves on 23 shots in relief.
