Hilton Head Christian Academy’s boys held on for a season-opening 56-55 win over visiting Bulloch Academy on Tuesday.
The Eagles built a double-digit halftime lead with a dominant defensive effort in the first half and held off a second-half charge from the Gators, who missed three good looks at the game-winner in the final seconds.

Isaiah Anderson and JP Peduzzi scored 15 points apiece and Quinn Ryan added 14 — including four 3-pointers — to lead the way for HHCA, while Andrew Helms added eight. The Eagles were without star guard Jace Blackshear, who is recovering from an injury suffered in the state championship football game.
Bryce Clifton broke out in the second half to finish with 21 points and lead the Gators’ comeback effort after being limited to four points in the first half. Ryan Swanson added 17 points, and Bo Spence had 11 for Bulloch.
HHCA (1-0) hosts Hilton Head Prep at Friday in the final game at the Eagles’ home gym on Hilton Head Island.
