Hilton Head Christian Academy girls tennis breezed through the first round of the SCISA Class 2A state tournament Tuesday, sweeping visiting Williamsburg Academy 9-0.
The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets and did not drop a game in five of them, and they showcased their depth by using only one of their top six singles players in the doubles lineup, winning three competitive eight-game pro sets.
HHCA will face Spartanburg Day in the semifinals Friday at Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter with the winner advancing to Saturday’s state championship match.
