HSGOLF: Sharks edge Seahawks by narrowest of margins

Hilton Head High closed the gap, but May River girls golf edged the Seahawks by one shot to win a five-team Region 7-4A match Tuesday at Eagles Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton.

The Sharks fired a team score of 169 to remain unbeaten this season, but the Seahawks put together their best round of the year to get within one stroke of their county rivals. James Island (247) was a distant third, followed by Beaufort High (264). Bluffton had only three players and did not record a team score.

May River’s Kylie Bowes and Hilton Head High’s Alexia Milbrandt shared medalist honors, carding rounds of 2-over 38 to edge the Seahawks’ McKenzie Bradley by three shots.
