HSGOLF: Sydney Bowes leads Sharks to dominant victory

May River’s girls golf team widened the gap between the Sharks and the rest of their county rivals with a dominant performance Thursday at Pinecrest Golf Club. 

The Sharks posted an impressive team score of 163 to easily outdistance runner-up Hilton Head High (190) and Beaufort High (263). Bluffton did not have enough players to post a team score. 

Sydney Bowes led the way for May River with an even-par 36, edging her sister Kylie Bowes and Hilton Head High’s Alexia Milbrandt by two shots for medalist honors. 

The teams are back in action Thursday at Golden Bear Golf Club.
