Each Monday (or Tuesday) throughout the high school boys basketball season, we recognize the standouts from the previous week’s action with the Lowco Boys Basketball Spotlight presented by Hilton Head Insurance & Brokerage.
We select an offensive and defensive player of the week, as well as a Team of the Week, and highlight the biggest game of the upcoming week.
Here’s this week’s installment of the Lowco Boys Basketball Spotlight presented by Hilton Head Insurance & Brokerage.
PRESENTING SPONSOR
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nick Pringle, WB
The Wofford signee averaged a cool 16 points and 13 boards to help the Warriors get off to a 2-0 start in Region 5-2A play, and he capped off a great week by hosting the inaugural Treys 4 Trey basketball camp, a free camp to honor his late brother and give back to the community.
Also nominated: Jamaad Rivers, BHS; Alex Smith, HHIHS; Brandon Howard, RHHS; David Grober, BCHS; Tyrone Calloway, HHP; Dawson Coleman, BA; Louie Smith, THA; Reco Anderson, JPII

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sam Summa, HHIHS
Summa came up big for the Seahawks in their first two region games, averaging 12 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks to help hold down the paint in hard-fought wins over Bluffton and Beaufort High.
Also nominated: Dennis Holmes, RHHS; Jaeon Allen, BCHS; Shemar Williams, WB; Luke Foley, HHP; CJ Knight, JPII

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars (2-0 last week, 11-6 overall)
The Jaguars have started Region 8-3A play in style, posting impressive victories over May River and Battery Creek to indicate they’re not too keen on giving up their region title. A balanced attack led by Mauriq Singleton, Brandon Howard, Dennis Holmes, and a strong supporting cast has the Jags flying high going into a huge home game against region favorite Wade Hampton (ranked third in Class 3A) on Tuesday.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Colleton County at Hilton Head High, 7:30 p.m. Friday
The wide-open Region 7-4A race is starting to take shape, and the Cougars and Seahawks are the last two undefeated teams in the standings. Hilton Head High has been able to win close games lately, and if the Seahawks can limit their turnovers and keep it close at home they’ll have a chance to improve to 3-0 in region play.
