HS Tennis: Eagles Eke Out Win, Advance To Lower State Final

Beaufort High’s Griffin Stone and Diego Ladino won the clinching doubles match to give the Eagles a 4-3 win over visiting Wilson on Thursday in the Class 4A Lower State semifinals.

The visiting Tigers won three of the five singles courts, but Beaufort’s Mitchell Russell was able to grind out a three-set win at No. 5 and Tucker Martin and Bodie Daniel won in straight sets at No. 2 doubles, forcing the deciding No. 1 doubles match.

Ladino and Stone teamed up for a hard-fought three-set victory in the clincher.

The Eagles (14-2) will travel to Myrtle Beach on Saturday for the Lower State championship match.
