Thomas Heyward tied the game in the sixth, then scored six runs in the top of the eighth to rally for a 7-2 win at Hilton Head Christian Academy on Monday.
The Rebels’ late rally followed a great pitching duel between THA’s Bryce Tillotson (7 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 8 K, 2 BB) and HHCA’s Reece Malon (7 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 12 K, 2 BB).
Roman Padgett was 2-for-3 with a double, and Peyton Bennett and Louie Smith each had a hit and an RBI for the Rebels, who took advantage of four Eagles errors in the big eighth inning.
Dargan Cherry had a double and an RBI, Daniel Harrington and Jake Richardson each added a hit, and Malon drove in a run for the Eagles.
The Rebels (4-4, 2-0) play at Hilton Head Prep on Tuesday. The Eagles (3-6) travel to Hilton Head Prep on Monday.
