Hilton Head High senior Sam Gilman had a fantastic weekend at the New Balance Nationals Indoor championships in New York over the weekend, setting a meet record and earning All-America honors.
Gilman began his weekend Friday night by winning the Emerging Elite division 800-meter race with a meet record time of 1:52.50, a full second ahead of the runner-up.
On Sunday, Gilman capped the weekend with a fifth-place finish in the Championship division 1-mile run, posting a personal-best time of 4:10.37 to earn All-America honors.
