HS Wrestling: Sharks Edge Eagles For County Title

May River’s wrestling team claimed the team title at the Beaufort County Championship on Saturday at Hilton Head Island High School.

The Sharks had five individual champions and five runners-up to edge Beaufort High for the team title. The Eagles claimed six individual crowns.

Battery Creek had one individual champ and placed third, and host Hilton Head High claimed two individual titles and placed fourth. Whale Branch was fifth, and Bluffton was sixth.

Beaufort (Region 7-4A) and May River (Region 8-3A) each won region titles and will host the first two rounds of the dual playoffs in their respective divisions Saturday. Hilton Head High will travel to North Myrtle Beach for the opening rounds of the Class 4A playoffs, Battery Creek will open the Class 3A playoffs at the Region 5-3A champion, and Whale Branch’s playoff fate is yet to be determined.
