HSVB: Seahawks Advance, Eagles Ousted In 4A Playoffs

Hilton Head High advanced but Beaufort High was eliminated in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs Tuesday.

After a first-round bye, the Seahawks dispatched North Augusta in their postseason debut, winning 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 25-17). McKenzie Ryan led the Seahawks with 13 kills, while Olivia Janson had nine kills and three blocks, Kate Schwartz collected 27 assists and 15 digs, and Sophia Kaup had a team-high three aces.

Hilton Head High will host Myrtle Beach in the Lower State semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Beaufort’s playoff run ended with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-8) loss at North Myrtle Beach.

Setter Madison Gallion directed the offense and added five kills, Hannah Merchant had five kills, and Chase Vaigneur and Hailey Lamar added three kills a piece for the Eagles. Libero Peyton Polk and setter Zyaire Middleton anchored the defense.

Beaufort finished the season with an 18-19-3 record and loses only one senior of the region runner-up squad.
