HSFB: The Week 7 RBC Heritage Player of the Week Is …

Hurricane Michael seems to have suppressed voter turnout for the Week 7 RBC Heritage Player of the Week, leading one to wonder what y’all are doing during the school day on a normal week.

But I digress.

Those who did turn out to vote were mostly divided among two camps: Team Shamar and Team Freddie. Bluffton’s Shamar Sandgren pulled in 36.7 percent of the vote, narrowly edging John Paul II’s Freddie Aiken (34.9%) to win the fan vote.

Our four-person panel, however, was more impressed with Hilton Head Christian Academy’s performance in a 42-28 win over Orangeburg Prep on Friday. So impressed, in fact, that all four of us voted for an Eagles star.

One of those votes went to quarterback Hayden Shinn, but the other three went to a guy who has become a staple nominee but is taking home the top honor for the first time.

That’s right, HHCA fans: Daniel Harrington is finally getting his due. Harrington had another monster game Friday, catching 13 passes for 228 yards and two touchdowns, rushing for 25 yards and two more scores on eight carries, throwing a touchdown pass, and adding three tackles and a pass breakup for good measure.

That’s an RBC Heritage Player of the Week-worthy stat line if I’ve ever seen one.

Thanks for voting, and let’s do it again next week.

Who should be the RBC Heritage HSFB Player of the Week for Week 7?
