Whale Branch qualified six individuals and five relay teams for the Class 2A track & field championships at the state qualifying meet Saturday in Columbia.
The top eight finishers in each event qualified for next week’s state meet in Columbia.
On the girls side, Theresa Anderson was third in the long jump (16-7), I’Queria Jackson was seventh in the 100 (12.67), and Adaiya Byas was eighth in pole vault (7-6). The Warriors also qualified second in the 4×100 (49.69) and fourth in the 4×400 (4:21.54).
Robert Alston led the Warriors on the boys side, finishing second in the triple jump (43-10) and seventh in the high jump (6-0). Roshard Campbell was second in 400 (51.34), and Richard Campbell was seventh (51.61). The Warriors qualified third in the 4×100 (43.59) and 4×800 (8:45.15) and fourth in the 4×400 (3:33.25).
