May River softball used two big innings to break open a close game for a 16-2 win over rival Bluffton on Wednesday.
Hayley Welsch went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, and five RBIs, and Kayla Bradley was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Sharks. Kylee Gleason went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Gabby Ximenez was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Ximenez earned the win, allowing two runs (one earned) and three hits while striking out four.
Zoe Paulmeier took the loss for Bluffton but also hit a solo homer leading off the second inning.
The Sharks have taken the first two games of the three-game series, which concludes Friday at Bluffton.
