Alexis Ortiz threw another gem as Battery Creek softball blanked rival Beaufort High 14-0 on Wednesday.
Ortiz struck out eight and did not issue a walk in a one-hitter, and the Dolphins broke it open late with four runs in the fifth and eight in the sixth.
Journeigh Doray was 4-for-5 with three doubles and an RBI, and Michaux Gee was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Dolphins. Emily Crosby went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Kelsey Hill was 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Julianna Greer drove in two runs.
The Dolphins (5-0) play a huge three-game series against Region 8-3A rival May River next week. The opener is at May River at 7 p.m. Monday. The Eagles (1-4) travel to Cane Bay for a Region 8-4A contest at 7 p.m. Friday.
