HSBB: Six Area Teams Set For SCISA Hoops Playoffs

The brackets are set for the SCISA basketball state tournament with four area girls teams and two local boys teams set to begin their quests for state championships.

The girls start things off Friday, with Beaufort Academy leading off for the Lowcountry. The Eagles (13-7) earned a No. 1 seed in the Class 1A bracket and will face St. John’s Christian in the first round at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Porter-Gaud in Charleston.

In the Class 2A girls bracket, Hilton Head Christian Academy (19-1) earned a top seed and will face Marlboro Academy in its opener at 6 p.m. Friday at Heathwood Hall in Columbia. No. 2 seed John Paul II (21-5) takes on Oakbrook Prep at 5 p.m. at the Sumter Civic Center, and No. 3 seed Thomas Heyward (12-9) faces Spartanburg Christian at 6:30 p.m. at Wilson Hall in Sumter.

In the Class 2A boys bracket, top-seeded Hilton Head Prep (22-2) faces Thomas Sumter in its opener at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Pinewood Prep in Charleston, and No. 4 seed John Paul II (13-13) takes on Trinity-Byrnes at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Hall.

Class 1A girls: #1 Beaufort Academy (13-7) vs. #4 St. John’s Christian, at Porter-Gaud, 4:30 p.m.

Class 2A girls: #2 John Paul II (21-5) vs. Oakbrook Prep, at Sumter Civic Center, 5 p.m.
