May River’s girls and Bluffton’s boys topped their crosstown rivals in the season’s second meeting between the schools Saturday.
The Sharks claimed a 40-35 win over the Bobcats in the girls game, splitting the season series and moving ahead of Bluffton for third place in the Region 8-3A standings.
Emma Peluso scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half and Chynna Sneed added nine points for the Sharks (10-10, 3-4). Judaah Mitchell scored 12 points, Tatyana Aiken added 10, and Kennedy Barber had nine for the Bobcats (10-12, 2-5).
In the boys game, Bluffton (14-7, 5-2) completed the season sweep of the Sharks (9-7, 2-5) with a 66-63 victory. The Bobcats moved into second place in the region standings, while the Sharks are locked into the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Class 3A playoffs.
May River wraps up the regular season at home against Wade Hampton on Tuesday, while Bluffton plays its regular-season finale at Ridgeland-Hardeeville on Thursday.
