The Hilton Head High boys’ bid to win the Omni Resorts Hilton Head Seahawk Holiday Classic for the first time in 13 years fell short Saturday.
The host Seahawks were overmatched by a powerful Miramar (Fla.) team, falling 87-33 in the championship game of the 31st annual tournament.
Trevor Wright scored 12 points and Lance Jackson added seven for the Seahawks, while Bryan Davis scored 18, Damian Miller chipped in 14, and Immanuel Crump added 13 to lead the Patriots.
Wright and teammate Chris Washington were named to the all-tournament team for the Seahawks.
The Whale Branch boys picked up their first win of the tournament, beating Robertsdale (Ala.) 44-36 in the seventh-place game.
In the seventh-place game in the girls bracket, Beaufort High defeated host Hilton Head High 48-18. Brittany Linton scored 19 points to lead the Eagles.
