The Hilton Head High cross country team swept the boys and girls team titles at the Class 4A Lower State qualifier Saturday in Darlington.
Hilton Head High’s Tori Herman won the girls race in 18:51, and Beaufort High’s Marlon Belden claimed the boys title in 16:17. Both Hilton Head High and Beaufort High qualified both their boys and girls teams for the state championship meet next Saturday at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia.
The Seahawks were first and the Eagles were second in the boys standings, as Hilton Head High placed six runners in the top nine. Belden outpaced runner-up Colton Thune of Hilton Head High by 36 seconds.
The Seahawk girls placed four runners in the top five and all seven in the top 14 to cruise to the team title, while Beaufort was fifth.
