Hilton Head High’s girls golf team finished ninth and Beaufort’s Izzy Stone tied for 16th overall in the SCHSL Class 4A State Championship, which concluded Tuesday at Port Royal Plantation’s Barony Course on Hilton Head Island.
The Seahawks posted a 36-hole team score of 754, while St. James (607) won the title by five shots over Daniel.
Beaufort had only three players and was not able to post a team score because No. 3 player Kyleigh Tokar is recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from her rib and Kirsten Stone is still competing with the tennis team in the playoffs.
Izzy Stone finished at 18-over 162 to tie for 16th and lead all local players. Emma Hayward was the top finisher for the Seahawks in a tie for 24th at 25-over 169.
