HS Golf: Bobcats 2nd, Sharks 3rd At 3A State Meet

Sophia Burnett finished second overall and led the Bluffton girls golf team to a runner-up finish at the SCHSL Class 3A State Championship on Tuesday at River Falls Golf Club in Duncan.

The Bobcats finished with a team score of 324, 10 shots behind champion Oceanside Collegiate. May River was third at 331. The tournament was cut to 18 holes after Monday’s round was cut short by storms.

Burnett shot even-par 72, one shot back of champion Kennedy Carroll of Bishop England. May River’s Kathryn Thorne shot 75 to tie for fourth and join Burnett on the all-tournament team along with Bluffton’s Camila Burnett, who tied for ninth with a 77.

Bluffton (324): Sophia Burnett 72, Camila Burnett 77, Kaylia McIntyre 85, Lexi Adams 90, Brilee Larson 109

May River (331): Kathryn Thorne 75, Molly Minasi 81, Sydney Bowes 87, Hannah Harris 88
