Hilton Head Island High School swept the Region 8-4A cross country team titles Wednesday at Wannamaker Park in North Charleston.
The Seahawks won the boys’ title by seven points over runner-up Beaufort High School despite holding out their top three runners.
Beaufort’s Marlon Belden won the boys’ title in 16:48, finishing 41 seconds ahead of runner-up Palin Kayser of Hilton Head High.
The Seahawks dominated the girls’ race, finishing with 19 points to runner-up Cane Bay’s 66. Beaufort was fourth with 83 points.
Hilton Head High’s Sarah Cooke led a trio of Seahawks who were first across the line in the girls’ race, finishing in 19:21 to beat teammate Abbigale Gross by 33 seconds.
The Class 4A Lower State qualifier is Oct. 28 in Darlington.
