Bluffton High School’s Sophia Burnett finished fourth overall and led the Bobcats’ girls golf team to a fourth-place finish among 15 teams in the Lady Patriot Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in Summerville.
Burnett shot even-par 144 over 36 holes on the 5,072-yard track, while St. James’ Smith Knaffle ran away with the individual title by shooting 10-under par over two rounds and 8-under 64 in the final round.
The Bobcats shot 330 in the first round and 324 in the final round for a 36-hole total of 654. Lexington won the team crown at 589, edging St. James by six shots.
May River High School (681) was eighth, and Hilton Head Island High School (739) finished 11th.
Bluffton’s Camila Burnett (14th) and May River’s Kathryn Thorne (T-18th) also posted top-20 finishes.
