The Beaufort High School volleyball won the Gold Division championship to lead a strong performance by area teams at the Colleton Prep Tournament.
Beaufort Academy also went 4-0 in pool play and reached the Gold Bracket semifinals before losing to Beaufort High 2-0 (26-24, 34-32).
Hilton Head Christian Academy went 5-1, losing to BA in pool play before claiming the Silver Division championship. John Paul II went 2-2-1 in pool play before losing to West Ashley in the first round of bracket play.
The tournament title capped a solid opening week for Beaufort High, which split two non-region matches on Wednesday and swept a pair of Region 8-4A contests on Thursday. The Eagles beat Fort Dorchester 2-0 (25-9, 25-20) and lost in three sets to HHCA 2-1 (25-22, 11-25, 25-16) in non-region play. They rebounded to sweep Colleton County 2-0 (25-15, 25-16) and come back to defeat Cane Bay 2-1 (25-27, 25-14, 25-12) in their first region matches.
