The Hilton Head High girls tennis team is back in the state finals for the first time since 2019 after vanquishing two-time defending state champion Lucy Beckham on Tuesday.
Michigan commit Piper Charney defeated Hilton Head’s Emily Ruckno at No. 1 singles, but the Seahawks’ depth carried the day, as Hailey Poplin, KS Kersey, Kourtny Kosto, and Alyssa Ruckno earned wins to clinch the victory without playing doubles. Hilton Head will face Greenville in the Class 4A championship match at 10 a.m. Saturday at Florence Tennis Center.
