Lowco First Down: Week 0, Preface

The 2022 high school football season got an early start Saturday night with the inaugural 1team1cause Showcase at Charleston Southern University, with Thomas Heyward opening its fourth straight SCISA 1A title defense with a clash with SCISA 3A power Trinity Collegiate. We’ll have full coverage later, but here’s your first look at the Rebels’ big win.

THOMAS HEYWARD 56, TRINITY COLLEGIATE 48

Dietrich Shuford returned from a knee injury that required surgery and cut his freshman campaign short to pass for a school-record 400 yards and 7 TDs on 13-of-18 passing, and Tyshon Mansell caught eight passes for 264 yards and 6 TDs to lead the Rebels to an impressive win in a wild game. Tony O’Banner also caught a TD pass for THA.

UP NEXT: THA (1-0) is off next week and travels to Northwood on Aug. 26.
