Despite being without five projected starters — including three lost to season-ending injuries — Bluffton girls soccer opened its season with an impressive 3-1 win over visiting Summerville on Tuesday night.
Gwenna Townsend, Angelina Facenda, and Anna Andreoletti each tallied goals for the Bobcats, and Chapelyn Terodemos made it stand up with a terrific effort in goal, recording eight saves to preserve the two-goal margin.
“Being down five starters for the start of the ‘22 season is not easy to overcome, but the remaining 14 girls played a tremendous game with great teamwork and pure determination,” Bluffton coach Brian McCarthy said. “Not to mention phenomenal goalie play by Chapelyn. We will see if we can build on this win for the next 20 matches of an extremely tough schedule.”
The Bobcats (1-0) open Region 7-4A play at Beaufort High on Friday.
