May River girls lacrosse opened region play Monday with a dominant road victory, defeating Beaufort High 17-6.

Lola Spires was sensational at midfield, scoring six goals to lead an impressive May River offense. Erika Dart tallied five goals alongside an assist for six points, and Molly Salus netted three goals while adding two assists and a team-high six groundballs. Tori Meiss notched the win in net for the Sharks with four saves.
Sophia Pellegrino led Beaufort High’s scoring with four goals, Abby Baise scooped up eight groundballs, and Shelby Holstein made 10 saves in goal.
May River (4-1, 1-0) travels to Georgia on Tuesday for a rematch with Richmond Hill. Beaufort High (0-2, 0-1) hosts Lucy Beckham on Thursday.
