Hilton Head Prep boys basketball overcame foul trouble to down its former cross-island rivals Friday, beating visiting Hilton Head Christian Academy 50-36 at home.
JJ Hayes delivered the hot hand for the Dolphins early on, draining three triples in just the first quarter to race his team out to a 17-10 lead before swelling the margin to 33-14 at halftime. A strong third-quarter effort from Hilton Head Christian brought the lead down to 15, but the Dolphins worked hard on defense down the stretch to close out their 13th consecutive win.



Hayes led the way with his shooting from the outside, knocking down three 3-pointers for 16 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists. Kane Eanes impressed with 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, and Sean Cusano put up 13 points and six boards and blocked three shots.
Hilton Head Christian Academy’s Isaiah Anderson scored 18 points, and Wells Sharpe added nine.
Hilton Head Prep (18-2, 9-0) welcomes Beaufort Academy for a key region duel on Tuesday. Hilton Head Christian (6-11, 3-6) hosted Savannah Christian on Saturday. Check LowcoSports.com later for a complete recap of that game.
