HSGBB: Peduzzi powers HHCA to big win at BA

Quarterbacks like to talk about taking what the defense give them, and that’s what Hilton Head Christian Academy girls basketball did Tuesday night, honing on in Beaufort Academy’s weakness to dominate in the paint and roll to a 66-34 road win in a matchup of the top two teams in the SCISA Region 4 standings.

Abby Peduzzi did the bulk of the damage inside, racking up 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting and ripping down 20 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards, in an incredible effort. Peduzzi scored 16 points in the first half as HHCA grabbed a 35-11 halftime advantage after outscoring BA 13-2 in the opening period.

Tamya Hutchinson added 11 points, five assists, and five steals, and Jai’da Grayson chipped in eight points and seven boards for HHCA, which scored 48 points in the paint and grabbed 29 offensive rebounds (57 total).

Mikayla Washington led BA with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Tahleea Heyward added seven points.

HHCA (16-2, 6-0) travels to Hilton Head Prep on Friday. BA (14-5, 5-2) hosts Colleton Prep on Friday.
