Whale Branch girls basketball held on for a 39-31 home win over Cross on Tuesday in a Region 7-1A clash marred by a third-quarter skirmish that resulted in three ejections.

Kynew Barnwell scored 21 points to lead the way for the Warriors, who outscored the Trojans 9-1 in the third quarter to break open a game that was tied at 19 at halftime.
Two Trojans and one Whale Branch player were ejected following a fight in the third quarter, and the Warriors were able to maintain control and hold off Cross down the stretch.
Erin Rivers added six points, and Heaven Grant and Kiana Smashum each had five for Whale Branch.
The Warriors (10-6, 4-2) travel to Palmetto Scholars for a make-up game Wednesday.
