HSGBB: Sharks’ comeback falls short vs. Trojans

May River girls basketball drew within four points in the fourth quarter Tuesday, but the Sharks couldn’t complete the comeback in a 41-33 home loss to James Island.

After being tied at 7 following the first quarter, the Trojans opened up a nine-point halftime lead. The Sharks trimmed one point off the margin in the third and kept coming in the final period, pulling within four before the Trojans mustered one more surge to push it back to double digits with two minutes left and hang on.

Morgan Scott scored 17 points to lead the way for May River, while Brooke Dalton added five points. Andrea Duncan led James Island with 17 points.

May River (6-10, 2-5) takes on crosstown rival Bluffton on the road Friday.
