May River girls basketball got back in the win column Friday with a Region 7-4A road victory, coasting to a 42-32 win at Beaufort High.
Morgan Scott scored 21 points to lead the way for the Sharks, while Page Mullis added eight, and Macey Dowe had six to complement a strong defensive effort from May River.
After Mullis scored six first-quarter points, Scott took over in the second, putting up nine points as May River stretched the lead from a six-point margin after one quarter to 27-13 at halftime.
The Eagles clawed back within eight heading to the fourth, and Quinn Wilson scored six of her 15 points in the fourth quarter to try to close the gap further, but Scott closed out a big night with eight fourth-quarter points to help the Sharks seal the win.
Topaz Fripp-Williams added six points for the Eagles.
May River (6-8, 2-3) travels to Colleton County on Friday, while Beaufort (2-10, 0-4) travels to Bluffton in a pair of Region 7-4A matchups.
