HSGBB: Bobcats pull away from Cougars in 4th

Bluffton girls basketball used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away for a 54-36 home win over Colleton County on Friday to stay perfect in Region 7-4A play over the past three seasons.

The Bobcats were again in danger of suffering their first region loss since 2019, as the Cougars held their own all night and trailed just 38-34 after three quarters, but Bluffton outscored Colleton County 16-2 in the final period.

Bluffton’s frontcourt took advantage of a size edge in the paint, as Madi Washington put up 16 points while fellow sophomore Ja’lania Mosley added 14. Tacoya Heyward chipped in nine for the Bobcats.

Makayla Chisolm scored 13 points, and Shandi Brown had 12 to lead the Cougars.

Bluffton (10-1, 4-0) hosts Battery Creek for a non-region match Saturday. Colleton County (9-6, 1-3) hosts James Island in a region contest Tuesday.
