HSGBB: Bobcats battle back to end Trojan Classic on high note

Bluffton girls basketball salvaged a split of its two games at the Trojan Holiday Classic at Northwestern with a hard-fought 44-43 win over Fort Mill on Wednesday.

The Bobcats trailed 23-16 at halftime after Fort Mill’s Clare Moore splashed five 3-pointers in the first half, but Bluffton made the adjustment and limited Moore to four points in the second half to mount a comeback.

Tacoya Heyward scored seven of her team-high 17 points in the third quarter, and fellow sophomore Madi Washington put up nine of her 15 in the fourth as the Bobcats outscored the Yellowjackets 18-14 in the final period to surge to a one-point win.

Amirah Brown and Trinity Fields each added five points for Bluffton.

The Bobcats (8-1) return to region play at May River on Tuesday.
