HSGBB: Bobcats’ unbeaten streak ends with tourney loss to host Trojans

After a few close calls on the way to a 7-0 start, Bluffton girls basketball met its match Tuesday, falling 59-32 to host Northwestern in the Trojan Holiday Classic.

The Trojans blazed out of the gate, outscoring the Bobcats 20-7 in the first quarter before Bluffton settled in and trimmed the margin to eight at halftime.

The Bobcats couldn’t keep pace after halftime, though. Bluffton didn’t have an answer for Darby Grigg, as the junior guard poured in 21 points, while Rachel Outen added 16 for the Trojans and McKenzie Evans had 13.

Tacoya Heyward scored 13 points, Madi Washington added 10, and Amirah Brown had six for Bluffton.

The Bobcats (7-1) play Fort Mill on Wednesday.
