Hilton Head High boys basketball returned to action with a strong victory Monday, topping Savannah’s Benedictine at home 45-40.

The Seahawks grabbed a 13-12 first-quarter lead behind five points from electric guard Alex Smith before Smith and Karyce Campbell helped grow the margin to 27-23 at halftime.
Chane Brown’s standout defense locked in after the break, holding an explosive Cadet offense under 10 points in each of the last two periods as Campbell rattled off six fourth-quarter points to close out the victory.
Campbell shined with 15 points to lead all scorers, Smith put up 12 points, and Zac Morris tallied nine. After earning All-Tournament Team honors in last week’s Seahawk Holiday Classic, Benedictine’s Caleb Jones impressed again with a 12-point performance including a perfect 7-for-7 night at the free-throw line.
Hilton Head High (6-5, 2-0) was back at it Tuesday in a home matchup with Richmond Hill. Check LowcoSports.com later for a full recap.
