Whatever Jermaine Bigham said at halftime on Tuesday, his May River girls basketball team should be prepared to hear it again and again and again.
After a lackluster first half, the Sharks swarmed visiting Colleton County in the second half, running away with a 57-36 win over the streaking Cougars to open Region 7-4A play with a bang.

The Cougars got the better of a defensive struggle early on, leading by eight at one point in the first quarter before May River closed within 17-15 at halftime. It was a different Sharks team in the second half, as sophomore standout Morgan Scott took charge and May River locked down on defense, forcing Colleton County into numerous turnovers and poor shot selection.
Scott racked up 26 points on 12-of-18 shooting and was dominant in the paint, grabbing eight rebounds and two steals. Kennedy Palmer added seven points and three assists for the Sharks, while Macey Dowe also scored seven, and Brooke Dalton and Page Mullis added six each.
Shandi Brown scored 14 of her team-high 21 points in the second half, and Heaven Green added 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, for the Cougars, who had their seven-game win streak snapped.
The Sharks (4-4, 1-0) travel to James Island on Friday, while the Cougars (7-3, 0-1) play at Hanahan on Wednesday.
