HSGBB: Dolphins’ comeback falls short in season opener

Hilton Head Prep’s girls came up just short on the road Tuesday, falling 50-47 in their season opener at Savannah Country Day.

Katie Campbell scored 15 points, Courtney Campbell added 13, and Ella Clark had six for the Dolphins.

The teams were tied at the end of each of the first two quarters, knotted at 12 after one and even at 28 at the break, but the Hornets locked down in the third quarter and opened up a 10-point advantage. The Dolphins chipped away most of the deficit, but they couldn’t close out the comeback.

HHP (0-1) makes its home debut Tuesday against Habersham.
