HSBBB: HHP rallies after halftime, holds off Hornets

Hilton Head Prep boys basketball rallied late to pick up a road win Tuesday, defeating Savannah Country Day 53-46.

After trailing 28-24 at halftime, JJ Hayes sparked the Dolphin offense with a 10-point third quarter to trim the deficit to just one. Sean Cusano came up clutch in the fourth with a pair of baskets to put Hilton Head Prep in front before fouling out, and the defense limited the Hornets to just five points and one made field goal in the final period to secure the comeback win.

Hayes notched a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kane Eanes scored 12 points while grabbing seven boards, Andrew Helms shot 3-of-4 from the field for eight points, and Cusano put up a big seven points with three assists and an impressive five blocks.

The Dolphins were without guard Ryan Mikell, who injured his wrist during Monday’s win at Memorial Day.
