HSGBB: Young’s monster game leads Seahawks to comeback win

Hilton Head High girls basketball overcame a sluggish start to surge to a 38-30 win over Wade Hampton on Saturday in the first round of the Earl Campbell Preseason Tournament at Whale Branch Early College High School.

The Red Devils bolted out to a 25-6 lead midway through the second quarter before the Seahawks closed the half on a 10-0 run and closed the gap to 30-26 by the end of the third. Hilton Head outscored Wade Hampton 12-0 in the final period to seal the win.

Lynda Young had a monster night for the Seahawks with 25 points and double-digit rebounds, while Deja Godsun added eight points and Anna Genova had four for the Seahawks. 

Hilton Head (1-0) plays host Whale Branch at 7 p.m. Monday in the semifinals.
