Jayden Gilliam scored 14 points, and Matthew Larkby hit a pair of huge free throws down the stretch to lift Hilton Head High boys basketball to a 57-55 comeback win over Wade Hampton on Saturday in the Earl Campbell Preseason Tournament at Whale Branch Early College High School.
The Seahawks trailed by double digits at halftime but closed the gap to 35-33 by the end of the third quarter, as point guard Alex Smith sparked the offense, scoring all six of his points in the period.

Karyce Campbell scored five of his nine points in the fourth quarter, and Gilliam capped his big night with a key bucket down the stretch. Then Larkby knocked down a pair of clutch free throws to seal the win.
Josh Hennum also had a big game for the Seahawks, scoring 10 points and knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, and Nate Rohr added seven points.
Robert Clark scored 15 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, for the Red Devils, while Mekhi Davis added 13, and Brenden Brantley had eight.
Hilton Head (1-0) faces Bamberg-Ehrhardt in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
