HS GTEN: Trio of Lowco squads set for SCISA playoffs

Three area teams will begin their quests for a state title when the SCISA girls tennis playoffs start Tuesday.

After an 11-1 regular season in which their only defeat was a 5-4 loss to SCHSL Class 4A power Hilton Head High, Hilton Head Prep has a No. 1 seed in the SCISA 3A bracket and will open at home against Wilson Hall at 3 p.m. Tuesday at South Beach Racquet Club.

If the Dolphins advance, they’ll face the winner of Tuesday’s Porter-Gaud vs. Hammond match in the semifinals Friday at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, where the state championship match will be played Saturday.

In the SCISA 2A bracket, John Paul II will open at home, while Hilton Head Christian Academy hits the road in the first round.

The Golden Warriors will host Pee Dee Academy at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill with the winner taking on the Spartanburg Day-Orangeburg Prep winner on Friday in the semifinals.

The Eagles travel to Palmetto Christian for their opener, needing a road win to advance to the semifinals against the Carolina Academy-Lowcountry Prep winner.
